Referring again to the article about In Defense of Food

I heard a tidbit on the radio that made my head snap to attention because it directly relates to the article we read about the book In Defense of Food. The commentator was saying that American architecture for new homes is almost universally designed without dining rooms. He said architects are creating living space centered around entertainment centers which they are dubbing "Grazing Space." This is a clear signal of a significant culture shift, one which I mourn. I think a sense of close family has been lost in our culture, and the disappearing formal dining room is one sign of the loss.
